A Hatter's Choice

Mad Hatter Hat
Alice in Wonderland - 2009

Yay, sooo excited about this movie and the cosplay I'm working on for the Johnny Depp version of The Mad Hatter.
Overall this hat took a day to make.
Base was done with cut foam core shaped with electrical tape then covered in a red imitation type velvet material that I'd dyed brown. Satin binding was used around the edges and then the whole hat was spraypainted with various browns, blacks, gold and green to get the right look.
The sash part was simply sewn up as a tube with tasseled ends and iron on details. The colour is a lot more accurate but in the photo with flash it came out a much brighter pink.
The hatpins were made of Sculpy clay on wooden skewers and the blue gem created with shaping hot glue and blue ink.

Overall pretty happy with how quickly this was put together and done pretty cheaply too!
